Things that made me smile...TODAY

Today was a typical Monday. As typical as Mondays ever are. I never want to get up and get motivated on a rainy, gloomy Monday morning..... but.... I do....
Mondays are tough at the ole' elementary school. The children come in droves to the nurse's office..... nobody is really sick...but none of them feel well. It is a Monday.

That is why a smile and a giggle on a Monday is so WONDERFUL.
Here is just of the highlights..... from my Monday:

1. Jake asked me to wake him up early this morning..... (at 5:45 instead of 7:00). I didn't ask why- but I woke him up early.... when I went to check up on him.... he was sitting in bed reading his new book..... That is why he wanted to get up early--to read..

That made me smile :)

2. I stopped at the gas station and treated myself to an extreme CAFFEINE coffee this morning(I never drink coffee-but gave up soda for lent: so I am craving caffeine)

That made me smile :)

3. A kindergartner at my school introduced me to her mom today....she told her mom I am the lady who makes her feel better when her mommy can't be at school with her.....and she gets sick or hurt or even sad....

That made me smile :)

4. My friend Sara came to my office.... entering the room like KRAMER. Sharing stories, giggles, and comments (often made in unison and followed by a roll of the eyes)...

That made me smile :)

5. Jake called me on my way home from work. He thinks I should re-think my parenting skills..... He reminded me that I packed FUDGE BROWNIES in his lunchbox..... and that this would not be a problem...except for that he gave up chocolate for LENT...."nice mom....real nice"

That made me smile :)

6. Emily hung out with me in the kitchen while I made dinner.... she and I danced around and acted silly while we waited for the water to boil.....then she snuck pasta behind my back...thinking I didn't notice...

That made me smile :)

7. Rowdy washed the dishes after dinner so that I could go finish writing thank-you cards.

That made me smile :)

8. Emily and Jake can't get enough of the new pencil sharpener I bought. There is somethingabout a NEW, freshly Sharpened #2 pencil

That made me smile :)

9. I am sitting here blogging....remembering all the things about today that made me smile...

That made me smile :)

  1. I am so envious of how you find so much happiness in the little things in life. It is always the little things in life as well that makes me smile but I guess my problem is I forget to remember them. Thanks for making me smile!
